Happy New Year! As we launch into 2008 with a refreshed resolve to practice greener living and work toward a more sustainable environment, a serious marker has been set in the opening days of this new year ... the $100 barrel of oil.

As sobering as this news is, it challenges us to support the good work of environmental groups in our communities, educators spreading awareness, politicians pushing sound legislation, and businesses adopting greener practices. As filmmakers, we are doing our bit by working on new projects that speak to important environmental issues.

In an effort to help more people afford to own our DVD and share its message with friends, we are keeping our holiday individual private use DVDs at $25 each. In recent weeks several environmental groups have presented Escape from Suburbia and have increased the participation of people in their communities who want to work for a more sustainable future. Visit our Host a Screening page HERE or call or write us to bring Escape to your community.

Look to this site for Gregory Greene's new blog that will debut soon.

If you have a website and would like to banner swap with us, we'd love to hear from you. Let's push the effort further this year, engage more people in the cause, and feel more confident about our footprint on this Earth.

Dara Rowland, producer

Suburbia, and all it promises, has become the American Dream, The End of Suburbia introduced the concept of peak oil. Now, in Escape from Suburbia, theory gives way to reality as a global debate rages over when demand will outpace supply, an emerging movement of citizens’ groups confront our addiction to oil, and three disparate characters and a small California town take on the most dramatic shift in modern history.

Escape from Suburbia is a wake-up call that challenges the illusion of never-ending growth based on the availability of cheap and abundant oil. Expert opinion and commentary from government and industry are countered by on-the-street skepticism from a growing segment of the population who’ve had personal experiences with natural disasters, rising gas prices and fragile energy grids. In Escape from Suburbia, viable local alternatives for citizens and communities are explored to ensure the survival of a sustainable civilization in the 21st Century and beyond.
